 Antique and Vintage Watches

Watches are unique collectibles and since the beginning of civilization man has held a fascination for time. When man scooped up a handful of sand and created the hourglass, portable timepieces have been in demand for the wealthy and poor alike. Man has sought constantly to improve his time measuring instruments and has made them with finest metals and jewels.

The watch has become precious and sentimental to so many because it is one of the true personal companions of the individual night and day. Many of the watches of yesteryear, which were assembled with extreme accuracy and fine workmanship continue to be reliable timepieces today. They stand out as unique because that type of watch is no longer hand made. In today's world of mass production, the watch with individual craftsmanship containing precious jewels and metals can rarely be found -and if found, it is rarely affordable.

In America there is more than 250,000 avid watch collectors and millions own several watches, also an untold number possess at least one or more of Hamilton's precious heirlooms.

How Old is Your Hamilton Watch?

The Hamilton Watch Company began producing watches in 1892. They are still producing watches today, but the brand name is now owned by the Swatch Group. They last produced watches under their own original company in 1969. That's seventy-seven years of Hamilton branded watches from what some say is the most influential watch company of the twentieth century.
